4 Reasons to consider having a Bridal Boudoir Session

You might need a bridal boudoir session, and it may not be for the reason you think!

Planning your wedding is an exciting and sometimes overwhelming journey. You’re planning so many things, and trying to check all of the boxes. You’re probably also thinking a lot more than usual about your appearance and trying to present your best self on what will undoubtedly be one of the biggest days of your life.

Something you may not have considered adding to your wedding checklist is having a Bridal Boudoir shoot, but let me tell you why you might want to consider it!

1. A Unique and Intimate Gift

Immediately, the number one reason many Brides consider a Bridal Boudoir session is as a gift to their future spouse. Many brides want to find the perfect, personal and intimate gift to give their fiance on their wedding day, and while there is a sea of “personalized gifts” out there, there is nothing more personal and intimate than photos of you. A bridal boudoir album is something only you can give, making it one of the most special and cherished presents your spouse will ever receive.

Another way to gift your significant other photos from your boudoir session is to randomly present him with individual prints throughout the day. I have seen a few different videos now where bridesmaids are tasked with gift the groom spicy photos of the bride throughout the day, which is just so freaking hilarious, as well as being a totally unexpected gift.

2. Confidence Boost

In my opinion this should really be the number one reason that you have a Bridal Boudoir session. You deserve to truly feel beautiful on your wedding day. The wedding industry has a way of really making even the most beautiful women feel inferior. (Hello bridal gown sizing running wayyy smaller than street sizing.) If you are feeling pressure to look a certain way, or to lose weight, or change your hair or appearance in any way for your wedding, I think you need to stop everything you are doing, and come see me for a boudoir session so we can adjust that mindset.

It has never failed. After every single boudoir session that I photograph, as the model is dressing and leaving, she makes a comment that she feels so empowered. She feels beautiful. And that feeling comes through on camera. And that feeling? That glow? That will transfer over to your wedding day.

Many brides worry about being the center of attention during their wedding ceremony. A boudoir session is a fantastic way to get comfortable in front of the camera and embrace the spotlight. By posing in a setting where you feel beautiful and powerful, you’ll gain confidence that will carry over to your walk down the aisle. It isn’t uncommon for brides to feel nervous about everyone they love and care for looking directly at them during their wedding ceremony. (And if you weren’t nervous before, but me saying that made you nervous, I am truly sorry!) Having a little confidence boost  from knowing how beautiful you look can be a HUGE confidence boost in that situation.

3. Test Your Wedding Hair and Makeup

A boudoir session is the perfect opportunity to ensure your wedding hair and makeup look flawless in photos. If you’ve never had professional hair and makeup done, this is your chance to test it out and make any necessary adjustments before the big day.

Schedule your hair and makeup trial on the same day as your session for a complete bridal beauty preview. Need recommendations? I have worked with amazing Hair and Makeup Artists and am happy to tell you all about them!

4. Showcase Your Bridal Attire

Bridal boudoir is a fantastic way to feature wedding elements that might otherwise only be worn once. Bring your wedding lingerie, shoes, veil, and even your getting-ready robe to create a collection of stunning, personal images that highlight all the thoughtful details of your bridal ensemble.

Is lingerie not your thing? (Don’t fret, it isn’t for me either.) You can still feel sexy and beautiful in these alternative wardrobe options for boudoir sessions.

When to Book Your Session

To ensure your boudoir album is ready in time for your wedding, schedule your session about 2-3 months in advance. This timeline allows plenty of time for editing, album design, and printing so you can present your gift with a minimum of stress! This is definitely something that you don’t want to leave until the last minute.
